Was a garage owner when he entered Formula 1 and he still is today! His base is near Locarno. He also organises Formula 1 racing exhibitions and has a large private F1 car collection. Vonlanthen also is a keen historic event attendee. A former Formula Vee and Formula 3 driver, this enthusiastic privateer raced for some while in Formula 2 but didn't have that much success, other than a non-championship win at Ulm-Laupheim in 1972. Vonlanthen retired at the end of the 1976 season to concentrate fully on his car dealership.
