Now teaches at an Audi racing school and Gijs also does occasional media and Public Relations work. He is also a regular attendee at historic events. During racing though, Gijs was best remembered for his association, in various forms, with Porsche, in whose cars he won the 1971 and 1976 Le Mans; the latter race being his very final race in a career that started in the mid-1960's. As well as his two Le Mans wins, van Lennep was also a winner in European Touring Cars and European Formula 5000, plus he also won the 1973 Targa Florio and the 1970 Interserie Privateer's Cup.
