Fast, sometimes accident prone driver, who never quite realised his promising and dramatically quick rise to F1. Was retired from racing but in 2022 appeared in some endurance events and rallying. He has a number of business interests, but remains closely linked to the sport via his son Max. Initially that was through karting, but after a stunningly quick rise up the ranks, which was even quicker than Jos' own, Max became the youngest ever F1 driver in 2015 with Toro Rosso, aged only 17. Jos also prepares, tunes and hires engines for karts, and this is his current passion. Also works in Dutch media, but has had a few legal problems in the last few years. When he last raced, he was in endurance events. In 2017, he was named as Red Bull's talent scout and coach.
