Much better known for his sportscar career, but had decent results in Formula 3. Later worked as a watch designer. Schafer was also a hillclimber in the 1960's. Schafer was a long-time resident of Geneva who amongst other things in his life was a hairdresser, a poet and also worked as a painter and decorator. A hard-trying, albeit laid-back character, he often was seen in a Chevron, but also raced in a Pygmee, Brabham and a Sauber sportscar. A big fan of Irish setter dogs, Georges died in 2020.
