Runner up of the 1978 British Formula 2 series, Adrian also ran a team in that series, and the European version as well. Also raced in the Aurora F1 series and Formula Libre. Later raced in historic events, and during all this, he ran a garage near Thornton Heath, London. One of his mechanics at his garage at one time was David Hunt, younger brother of James and later a racer himself. Russell was also a profilic karter during the 1960's. He moved into Formula Atlantic after a spell in karts in 1976 and also won the BRDC’s Chris Bristow Trophy for establishing the fastest lap at the Lydden circuit in 1978. Later worked as a taxi driver. Died in 2025. A true enthusiast, unusual for a racing driver in that he would move out of the way if a faster car was behind him, but was still a fast, capable driver himself, he never really had any tangible budget, other than support from Duckhams, to progress further.
