Still alive, living near his birthplace, in the Worcestershire countryside, 10 miles south of Kidderminster. Still very much linked to the historic side of the sport, and still drives in historic events. Burton also runs a number of businesses still, including his own corporate and private estate agency and holding company. John previously had business interests in the metal fabrications industry. As a racer, John was more successful in sportscars. He won a race, and finished second in both the 1972 and 1973 European 2-litre Sports Car Championship for Makes. He competed in Grand-Am as recently as 2003 and in 2009, won the Orwell SuperSports Cup Invitational Championship.
