Was in management in British and Australian Touring Cars, but now runs a garage in Poole and in Jersey, where he lives, and until 2017, was the head of the British Racing Drivers Club. Made a brief comeback to racing in the GP Masters event in 2006. Warwick had a long career which started in stock and superstock cars as far back as 1971, as a 16 year old. He also worked as a welder and painter on his way up the racing ladder. Brother Paul was killed in a British Formula 3000 race and after his death, Warwick worked extensively on circuit safety. Although he never won a Grand Prix, Derek did win both Le Mans and the World Sportscar Championship in 1992. Derek overcame bowel cancer recently after a two year fight.
