Real name Mike Szalai. Raced a variety of machinery for about 5 years, but did not have a lot of success. Mike's parents, his father Vincent and his mother, Ethel, were Hungarian born and bred, having moved to the United States in 1902. Initially Mike worked as a labourer, before becoming a salesman in the coal industry and a worker in an automobile factory. Racing was something he only took up after World War Two properly, but he did race in a dirt oval race in 1939 at Springfield. His best result, by far, was sixth place in the dirt oval race at Trenton in 1949.
