Erstwhile and enthusiastic amateur, a car owner who took a few wins at French minor events, including a Formula 2 event at Montlhery in 1953. Balsa started his racing career in the mid 1930's, carrying on just before - and then immediately after - World War 2. Balsa stopped driving in the mid 1950's but then ran a sports car dealership and returned to the sport as an entrant in the 1970 Le Mans, providing a Porsche 911 for Pierre Mauroy, who then bought the car from Marcel, who continued running his garage for a while afterwards. Balsa was also notable as a car builder of special single-seaters and also entered and prepared racing cars for a number of clients.
