Still well, living in Switzerland. He has numerous business interests, alongside the family haulage business which he runs. That business allowed him the opportunity to race but he initially put his career on hold to serve in the French Parachute Corps. In 1980 he started racing and enjoyed a lot of success in French Formula 3 in 1983. That said a move up to Formula 1 one year later was a surprise, especially as the champion of that series, Michel Ferte, was lined up to take the Ligier drive Hesnault eventually was signed up for. Unfortunately it didn't work out and Hesnault left the sport before the decade was out.
