Later built the Kleinart Indy car and chassis, and ran a garage. Also worked as a road tester, assembly builder and cigar clerk! Klein, full name Arthur Haas Klein, was the son of German emigrants who began racing on dirt tracks in the late 1900's. He raced for a while before serving his country in World War 1 in the US Engineering Corps, where he became a Lieutenant, based in Issoudoun in France. Thereafter somewhat feted when he drove as a brave American officer, he took his most notable win in 1920 at the Beverly Hills board track race in 1920. Later became the head of transportation at Warner Brothers studios, working there until his death.
