Worked as a test driver for Auburn, with whom he later designed road cars, including the Cabin Speedster. Primarily a stock car driver, he was also a good friend of Gene Tunney, the boxer. A cultured man, he also worked as an executive for Meteor Motors and as sales manager of the Cord Automobile division of Auburn. Killed in a car accident. Real name was Ward Day. Morton also designed an automatic clutch which ended up being exhibited at the 1931 National Automobile Show. Morton was a reasonable driver but his relatively short career was marred somewhat by some big crashes.
