Of Sicilian ancestry, Carl later became a car owner and midget racing president. His name eventually became more familiar at Indianapolis as a team boss. Later ran a tool shop with brother and fellow racer Tudy. Carl, along with his brother, started working as a mechanic for Holmes Motor Company before they branced out into building a midget racing car.
