Died in a road accident, when a truck crashed into him a short distance from the ranch he owned. His racing project was a real boost to his home country, and it included sportscars and Le Mans attempts as well as F2. Raced for years, from 1963 to 1994, often in endurance races. He competed in road races and rallies in his homeland, Peru, Argentina and America and also had a spell in Trans-Am. Throughout this, he drove an array of machinery including an Austin Cooper and a Pontiac Firebird, but it was in his own Porsche 908 that he raced the longest and had the most success in. A highly influential and positive man, he was one of the keys to securing the funds from Marlboro to finance his European and North American racing efforts.
