Sprint car legend, who carried on racing right into his 70's, but has now retired. Still keeps links with the sport. Started racing in 1955 in jalopies, before racing in modified and super modified cars in Northern California, often building and repairing the cars himself. He then progressed to the discipline in which he had the most success, winning eight North American Racing Club (NARC) sprint Championships. During his racing career, Leroy also ran a forklift business for many years. Still lives in the place he has called home for decades, Galt. To celebrate his 80th birthday in 2015, he acted as a Grand Marshal for races at Calistoga Speedway. Leroy still rebuilds antique cars, hotrods, forklifts and tractors, despite suffering a heart-attack in 2017.
