Luciano's Formula 1 career was setback by injury after a huge shunt at Spa in 2001, just as his career started to develop, ending his Formula 1 career there and then. A long-time driver in Brazilian stockcars until 2017, this came after a brief testing spell - with Ferrari between 2002 and 2004 - and endurance career. Burti was, before Grand Prix racing, a long-time resident in Britain, having progressed through Formula Vauxhall Junior, Formula Vauxhall and Formula 3, most of which was with Paul Stewart, who, with his father Jackie, helped Luciano progress. Burti worked as a commentator on Formula 1 in his homeland, but is now involved more in a range of media roles and has a technology business. He also sometimes does race steward work in Brazil. He retired from all racing in 2018.
