Dirt track and road race ace who also broke speed records and exhibition races. Also raced motor boats. His career ended when he was accused of stealing cars. Of Irish ancestry, he stayed linked with the sport until his death and when Formula 1 and CART visited Long Beach, where Mel lived, he was often seen in the paddock. Died of a stroke. Kenealy was AAA Pacific Southwest Dirt Track Champion in 1929 and in particular, did very well at Legion Ascot Speedway, racing there from 1925 until 1936. He also raced in Washington State and Oregon in the discipline.
