Based in both Britain and Japan for his respective F3000 careers, he was excellent in karts and Formula 3. He won the Swedish F3 title in 1985 and dovetailed this with drives in European F3. In 1987, Danielsson came 4th in the British F3 series in his 2nd year in the discipline and this saw him move up to Formula 3000 with Eddie Jordan's team. Thomas then spent 6 years in Japan, which included sportscar drives in their GT championships, as well as Japanese F3000. This is where he met his wife, and after retiring from racing, moved back to Sweden, and they now live in Gothenburg, where Danielsson works in real estate, and no longer has any direct links to the sport.
