A Duesenberg mechanic, he also worked with Wade Morton. Miller initially worked for Elcar as a tester in Elkhart, Indiana, before joining Duesenberg. Miller worked for Duesenberg in a number of roles and was head of the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg racing department. He later became a car builder and built a speed record lakester for his son, also called Eddie to drive. Miller also spent time as a photographer and publicist for the Auburn car company.
