Pennsylvania based ace, good in midgets, sprints and dirt track racing. Later ran a garage and dealership in his home town. Hickey initially worked as a porter in an automobile factory which eventually led to him taking up racing, before setting up his own garage after World War One, which he continued for the rest of his working life. Hickey was a regular AAA racer between 1917 and 1919, mainly on board ovals, enjoying his best season in 1919, with a very consistent set of results which also included two third places in two separate races at Uniontown.
