Son of the legendary Canadian racing driver. Ludwig Sr. owned Heimrath Porsche in Scarborough, Ontario - Ludwig Jr. helps with some of the business, but his main role is as CEO of All-Composite Inc., a composite manufacturing company. Ludwig also races in vintage events. Heiomrath impressed in Formula Ford, winning the 1980 Ontario Formula Ford Championship. From 1981 onwards for a few years, Ludwig raced in sportscars (IMSA and Le Mans) as well as US Super Vee. Heimrath is a fully qualified engineer, who also now works as a composite technology instructor and consultant in addition with his racing duties. In previous years, Ludwig and his wife Kathy, also a former racer, worked as a driving instructor for Audi.
