Very good road racer, who was also competent on dirt track ovals. A pre-war dirt track racer from upstate New York who first gained an AAA license in 1928, he made Indianapolis appearances in 1930-1931. Later involved in automotive inventions and car design, his real name was Carl Chamberlain, and he contested numerous races over a ten year period in NASCAR stock car racing during the 1950s. As well as appearing at Indianapolis, Ted was a regular competitor at Syracuse's dirt oval, but also in a variety of road courses, which included Elgin and Westbury.
