Very sadly died of bowel cancer, aged only 55, in 2021. Ran a Chevrolet, Honda and Toyota car dealership in his native city, after retiring from driving in 1999. One of his business partners was Roger Penske - the actual name is United Auto for Penske which has a total of fifteen car dealerships - his former team boss in CART. Andre was initially a law student before taking up racing in karts in the 1980's. In the mid 1990's, Ribeiro was one of American open-wheel racing's top drivers, winning three CART races.
