Major businessman until his death, winning a national business award in 1994. Fred was also hugely instrumental in the rise of the SCCA. He founded the Chicago region of the SCCA in 1948, and was a pioneer behind Elkhart Lake being a successful track. He became President of the SCCA in 1952, and remained in that role until the end of 1953, and right up until his death was a hugely influential figure and supporter of the US sportscar scene.
