Born:

23 Dec 1923
Zarate, nr. Buenos Aires

Died:

31 Jul 1954
Nurburgring, Germany

Nationality:

Argentina

Grands Prix:

11 (1951-1954)

Killed in the qualifying for the German Grand Prix. His dad raced against Fangio in touring cars in Argentina and so the great man helped Onofre, who started in Argentine road races in the late 1940's, before moving to Europe. In the early 1950's, Marimon raced in both his homeland and Europe. Once settled as Maserati's leading driver, Marimon came very close to winning the Italian Grand Prix in 1953 and came very close to other decent results. All of which highlighted a potential champion - or at the very least - race winner, before his tragic passing.
