Still alive, living in Kidderminster, Worcestershire. Decent Formula 5000 driver who also raced in sportscars. For many years, Alan ran a garage in his hometown and also owns a vehicle repair business. Alan enjoyed a long career in the sport, starting in 1962 and finishing in 1984. A race winner in Formula Junior, Alan's rise was quite rapid (maybe too rapid) and a deserved F1 chance never came after non-qualification at the British Grand Prix in 1965. This was despite being a race winner in Formula 3, Formula 2, European Formula 5000 and the Tasman Series, as well as winning the Grovewood Award in 1967 for his efforts in Formula 3. Alan also had tests with Lotus and Surtees but that was as close as he came to making Grand Prix racing again.
