1931 winner, Louis was also an ex-traffic policeman on his motorcycle before racing. Died of tuberculosis. Louis took up racing on dirt tracks initially before appearing in a lot of Indycar races. His 1931 Indianapolis 500 win was a suprise as Schneider had never really been that close to a win but he was a very consistent driver which also saw him win the 1931 National Championship. Schneider then retired after a serious crash whilst racing in California in 1938. Two years later he started to see his health fail and his death was attributed to complications of his injuries sustained in the crash.
