Son of Keke, GP2 champion in 2005. Speaks 6 languages, a legacy of his boyhood years in Monaco, plus his dad's, and indeed his own racing career. With the Mercedes team in F1 since 2010, he finally became a title contender in 2014, finishing as eventual runner-up. He continued to push team-mate Lewis Hamilton until Nico finally won the title in 2016. Having achieved his life's ambition, and with a small family to watch grow, Nico surprisingly retired from Formula 1 as reigning World Champion less than a week after his title win. Away from the sport, Nico was involved in an ice cream parlour business in Ibiza run by his wife and he will concentrate on spending more time with her and his children. He has also turned his hand to management and is part of former rival Robert Kubica's management team. Nico also supports his father's ADAC Masters and DTM teams as an advisor in both a driver and engineering capacity and also runs an Extreme E team.
