Sadly died in 2019 after a long time suffering with dementia. For a long while, he ran a garage (which still remains) which specialised in Lamborghini's, in Dusseldorf, Germany and for a little bit, due to the Lamborghini links, Hubert himself also had a base in Italy. He also worked as a marketing expert and motorsport columnist and visited historic festivals. Hahne was the winner of 1966 European Touring Car Championship over 1600cc class and that included the Spa 24 Hours win that year. A BMW stalwart for pretty much his entire career, Hahne quit the sport almost immediately after the death of close friend Jochen Rindt.
