Started by racing bikes and hillclimbs, and it was the latter he was in for most of his racing career, although he also drove in touring cars extensively. Away from the sport, he became a mineral oil sales rep, ran a taxi firm and a Toyota parts workshop, but he still had success in the 1980's despite all these commitments, especially in sportscars and hillclimbs. Towards the end of his life, he tried to set up a sports prototype team, but sadly died of a heart-attack at his factory before the project could really take shape.
