Germany

His single-seater career was pretty short, but he made up for it by having a long and hugely successful sports and touring car career. Won Le Mans three times, in 1979, 1984 and 1985, but left sportscars shortly after his last win due to safety fears. He then went into touring cars, and for the rest of his career flitted between the two. A more recent highlight for him was a win at the Nurburgring 1999 24 hours, before he finally retired in 2006. Now works as a TV commentator and competes in historic racing. His son Luca also races.
