Touring car legend in his homeland, who raced for over 40 years in the discipline, taking over 150 wins in all competitions. His last win came in 2001, 40 years after his debut in the category. He won the Championship, in its various forms fourteen times, between 1977 and 1999. Also competed in rallies and touring cars in Europe. He remained linked to the category through media and public speaking engagements. Traverso had planned for a longer single-seater career but the state of the Argentine economy didn't allow for any more progression other than his single year in single-seaters. Died in 2024 after suffering from oesophageal cancer.
