Also raced in Formula Vee and SuperVee, but came into the sport as a mechanical engineer and designer and as a chassis engineer at Porsche. But he impressed with his racing and won the German F3 title in 1977, but after reaching F2, felt he couldn't rise any higher and retired in 1979. Has since worked for a pipe system company, where he is now a director. Also races karts for fun.
