Raced under a number of pseudonyms, including Umberto Calvo, but his real name was Friedrich Glatz, but often answered to Fritz. A businessman and industralist, Chauvet was, by his own admission, an enthusiast who took part for the enjoyment rather than as a career. He largely raced in single-seaters with some sportscar racing. Sadly died, not far from racing retirement, after a crash in a EuroBOSS race at Most in the Czech Republic, whilst racing under the name Frederico Careca. He died when he hit a kerb at high speed whilst leading, with the F1-type car then barrel-rolling.
