Raced in sportscars before, during and after Formula 2 and was a regular competing in his own country's endurance and club events in the early 1970's, more than often than not in a Porsche 906 or a 908 entered by the Bosch Racing Team. He also appeared in Formula Super Vee and hillclimbing. Still keeps some links with the sport, and occasionally appears in special events. Rieder supported his racing activities through his work as a mechanic. Started racing in 1968 in sportscars.
