As a racer, Mingotti was predominantly in sportscars, often driving a Porsche 911 S or a Lola T290, the latter of which he owned, but he also raced in hillclimbs and endurance road races. However, Sergio is probably best remembered for working in motorsport as a mechanic after starting his apprenticeship with the Pederzani brothers and their Tecno team. Sadly, Sergio died after a short illness in 1991, aged only 48.
