Lost proper use of his right arm in a helicopter accident, although he now uses this hand for driving and his good hand for smoking!. Raced on for many years in sports and touring cars. Now runs a string of cafes and vineyards in Italy and the Far East from his home in Siena, and although the family business is now leased out more, Nannini looks after the property side of the business. Made a surprise return to racing in 2007, racing in GT's and although he seemingly had finished competitive racing, he appeared at a Superstars event in 2012. Nannini does still drive at a few historic events, including the course car at local rallies, but focuses mainly on his business interests. He has also become involved in football now, being a director in a local football club in Siena and also loves his wine and food too.
