Giancarlo joined with Ferrari's Formula 1 team, as one of their test and reserve drivers after a brief spell driving for them, which unfortunately rather than being a step to greater things, ended his long spell driving in Formula 1. Was also involved in running a GP2 team for a while. Now races in endurance events and took a Le Mans class win in 2014. He competed in the United Sports Car Championship in 2016 and in 2017, combined this with a full-time Blancpain endurance drive. In 2018, he raced in the World Endurance Championship and carried on in 2022. Won the Italian Formula 3 title in 1994. Fisichella's passion for cars came from his father, who ran a garage in Rome. Also runs a driving academy.
