Also a major figure in both the Anzani Engine and Bristol Car's history, he also raced. Initially worked as an importer. HJ stood for Harold John. Initially started as an apprentice at GN, racing their cyclecars, before then working for the Black & Fitch dealership which was an agent for Archie Frazer Nash's road cars and before long Aldington joined up with the company and became their managing director when the company became the best manufacturer for the booming hillclimb passion of the 1930's. Aldington raced in hillclimbs himself as well as rallies and at Le Mans, stopping that aspect of his life in 1950.
