Rae later became a car-builder in the 1940's and 1950's, and entered a car in 1950's Indianapolis 500 for Walt Ader, which made the race, and in 1952 for Buzz Barton, which didn't. Rae was more involved in racing as a riding mechanic, as he supported George Barringer in the Miller for two races in 1934, at Springfield and Mines Field.
