Relatively recently, Graham left Lotus F1, where he had been in all of its different guises, since 1990. He specialised, during that time, on gearboxes, the KERS system, exhausts and design, including designing the first transverse gearbox for Benetton. Graham previously worked as a design engineer for Ferrari and Tyrrell (for whom he was also a race engineer), but prior to getting into the sport in the 1970's, he originally worked as an engineer on military vehicles although his training was on gas turbines, starting his working career as an apprentice at the National Gas Turbine Establishment. Lives in Hampshire, and is now retired. He was an independent design engineer after a few years in various roles at McLaren.
