When injury affected his career, he became a team-owner, founding the long-standing Apomatox team in F3000, which has had nearly 10 F1 drivers in its ranks at some time or another. Delestre sold out to Alain Prost in 1998, but stayed on as team manager until the Prost F1 team folded, which of course meant the end for the F3000 squad. Now works as an economist, which he trained for, before motor spor and also runs a model and replica racing car business.
