Ran his own Formula 3000 - GEM (Gary Evans Motorsport) - team in Egham, but after being bought out for a fair sum by Sir Jackie Stewart, walked away from the sport. He later competed in club racing, but is now retired from racing and no longer directly involved in the sport, but he is a proud member of the British Racing Drivers Club. Son of former MP and Luton Town FC Chairman, David, Gary now lives in Bedfordshire. Gary is still involved in business interests, however; he is a director for a facilities management company, a cleaning service company and a motor trade business, most of which are based in Hertfordshire.
