Trice had only a very brief racing career, with a couple of sportscar events as well as his CART effort in 1981. He was more involved with sponsorship, which was how he got involved in the sport, although he was always interested in racing. Trice was a former member of the US Army's Airborne Division and served in Vietnam. Trice in his teenage years was a gifted boxer and won a number of boy's titles in New York's boxing world.
