European Formula 3 1982
Paolo Pavanello's Euroracing F3 team had raced a pair of March 813s in 1981, but with March's withdrawal from F3, were forced to extensively rebuild the two cars for 1982. The monocoque was narrowed, the suspension modified, and the bodywork radically changed, and the resulting 'Euroracing 101' was an instant success. Oscar Larrauri and Emanuele Pirro won eight of the first ten rounds between them, and the Argentine took an easy championship victory, the third in succession for the Marlboro-backed Alfa Romeo-powered Euroracing team.
The new ground-effect Martini MK37 was a failure, its straight line speed being especially poor, and the only other major race winner was James Weaver in his Eddie Jordan Ralt RT3/82. With March gone, and Martini on the ropes, the future looked very good for Ralt. The other cars that showed promise during 1982 were Gary Anderson's Anson SA3C from England, and the Dallara 382 from Italy. Pavanello was said to be building his own chassis for 1983, but would instead exploit his links to Marlboro and Alfa Romeo, and accept an invitation for Euroracing to take over the running of Alfa Romeo's F1 team.
