Created World Superbikes (in 1988) and has been a hugely influential promoter, especially in his homeland. It has been his ambition to try and get a Grand Prix based in his home city of Rome. He still runs a sports media and PR agency, FG Group. Came closest to a Formula 1 drive in 1976 with Brabham, partly due to his links with Bernie Ecclestone (which remain to this day), but when it didn't happen, he moved into promotion, initially focusing on motor shows. He was also the man behind the Italian Superstars series.
