Madagascan born, French based driver, who is still an ambassador for the Alpine brand. For many years, he would be at historic festivals, particulary rallying, often competing in the Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique and was also a regular at the annual Mornay Festival. Alain was a very versatile and varied racer, who won the French Formula 3 title in 1972 and 1973 and prior to that, the French Formula Renault title in 1971. Later also raced in sportscars, and last appeared at Le Mans in 1989. But rallying is probably his most evocative and favourite racing link and took a number of wins and titles in that discipline.
