After a mixed and stop-start Formula 1 career, which promised much, but delivered relatively little, Vitantonio went into Italian touring cars and the World Endurance Championship. He then moved to Japan, and raced in Super GT and Super Formula, before returning to Europe in 2015 to once again appear in the WEC. In 2017, Vitantonio was in the International GT Open Series. In 2018, he is in Asian GT racing with some other drives in sportscars. Liuzzi lives in Italy and Switzerland and is brother-in-law to fellow racing driver Andrea Caldarelli.
