Qualifying
Qualifying information not available

Notes on the cars:

  1. Brabham BT28 [35] (Mike Beuttler): New to Mike Beuttler for British and some European Formula 3 in 1970, using Lucas and Holbay engines and entered by Clarke Mordaunt Racing. To José Ferreira at the end of the European season and raced by him in the Torneio Brasileiro in January 1971. Rebuilt to 1600cc specification with Holbay and later Novamotor engines for British F3 in 1971. Autosprint gave BT28-35 as the chassis number of Giovanni Lo Voi's car in Italian F3 in 1972, but as Lo Voi had already been driving a BT28 for the previous two seasons, it seems highly unlikely he'd have bought a different BT28 for 1972. The history of the Beuttler/Ferreira car is unknown after the end of 1971.
  2. Lotus 59A [F3-11] (James Hunt): A new Lotus 59 raced by James Hunt in F3 in 1970 with Holbay engine and was modified with the 69-style bodywork of the 59A spec during the season. Then believed to be the Lotus 59/69 raced by Sonny Rajah in South East Asian racing in 1971. Retained by Rajah who refers to it as "the ex-James Hunt Lotus 69". Still with Rajah in 2010.
  3. Brabham BT28 [26] (Richard Scott): New to Richard Scott for British and European Formula 3 in 1970, using Lucas engines and entered by Paul Watson Racing Organisation. To Harry Stiller in August 1970 but sold just a month later to dealer Brian Classick. Subsequent history unknown.
  4. Chevron B17 [17.70.01] (Peter Hanson): New to Peter Hanson (Yorkshire) and run for him in European F3 in 1970 by the Paul Watson Racing Organisation (PWRO). The car was red and used Novamotor engines. Won at Hameenlinna in June and at Karlskoga in August. Taken to the Brazilian Temporada in January 1971 but used as a hire car. Sold to Keith St John for 1971 and converted to the new 1600cc formula, but rarely appeared that season. Advertised for sale in September 1971. Subsequent history unknown.
  5. Brabham BT28 [39] (Gerry Birrell): New to Sports Motors (Manchester) for Gerry Birrell to race in British and European F3 in 1970, winning Internationals at Paul Ricard, Brands Hatch and Thuxton. Sold to Ronni Rossi for 1971 and raced in the Brazilian Temporada, then rebuilt with a 1600cc Holbay twin cam and raced in British F3 in 1971. Crashed several times during the season. To Eddie Jacobsson for 1972, and partially updated to BT35 specification. Unknown in 1973 but reappeared in 1974 when fitted with a 1000cc Felday engine and raced in Formula 4 by Bob Laughton (Steyning, Sussex). Sold for 1975 to Roy Lewington (Shoreham, Sussex) and raced in F4 again. Advertised by Lewington again in 1976 and later advertised from a Botley, Hampshire number in 1980. Subsequent history unknown.
  6. Chevron B17 [17.70.05] (Jürg Dubler): New to Jürg Dubler (Oberhasli, Switzerland) and raced in European F3 in 1970 using Novamotor engines, and winning at Montjuich Park, Brno and Zandvoort. Bought from Dubler by Austrian sportscar driver Klaus Reisch in 1971 for the new 1600cc F3, using a Wainer-built Alfa Romeo engine, and run by Auto Ascher. Then likely to be the Chevron B17-Alfa raced by Maximillian Plass (Munich, Germany) in F3 in 1972. Subsequent history unknown.
  7. Brabham BT28 [5] (Keith Jupp): New for Keith Jupp and prepared by P & M Racing Preparations for British F3 with Holbay engines. Retained by Jupp for 1970 and raced by Bert Hawthorne on a couple of occasions. Sold via US dealer Joe Grimaldi to Jack Deaso (Stratford, CT) and raced in New England Region SCCA Formula C in 1971 and 1972. To Tony Barbose (Millville, NJ) for 1973, but apparently unraced by him. Bought from Barbose in the late 1970s by Walter Hagstrom (who moved from Tuxedo, NY to Laguna Niguel, CA during his ownership), then to Dave Lewis (Julian, CA) in the early 1980s and then Wayne Mitchell (San Diego, CA) around 1989. Mitchell sold it to Dave Bankes (Los Angeles, CA) in 2005, but bought it back a year later. To Robert Lamplough (London) 2011.
  8. Chevron B17 [17.70.07] (Chris Skeaping): New to Chris Skeaping and used in British F3 in 1970, using Lucas engines. Skeaping retained the car for 1971, fitting Rowland Ford twin cam engines. Not seen in 1972, but "Chris Skeaping's Chevron B17" advertised from a London number in September 1972. In early 1973 it was being raced in Northern Irish events by Eddie Irvine (Newtonards, County Down, Northern Ireland) in a class for 1000cc racing car events. Subsequent history unknown but reported by Kevin Hodgkinson to be "now owned by Tony Mantle & driven by Nigel Bancroft in UK Peter Hanson Trophy events".
  9. Brabham BT28 [21] (John Gillmeister): New for Andy Sutcliffe for F3 late 1969 but crashed heavily at Brands Hatch in mid-October. To John Gillmeister (Harrietsham, Kent) for 1970 but his season stopped in July and the car was raced only once more in F3, by Roger Hurst (Folkestone, Kent). Converted to Formula Atlantic by Lenham Hurst Racing Organisation for Gillmeister for 1971 but replaced after a few races by a Palliser, and ended up at MRE. Bought by Fl Lt Des White (Bristol) and fitted with the Ford twin cam and Hewland FT200 from Mike Stow's BT28/BT35 after Stow acquired a BDA. Used by White in Bristol MC events at Colerne and Hullavington but not actually raced. Sold to Derrick Robinson (Radstock, Somerset) late 1973 and advertised by him in May 1974 as a rolling chassis with new FT200, commenting that it had only raced once. Subsequent history unknown.
  10. Chevron B15 [F3-69-3] (René Ligonnet): New to René Ligonnet for French and occasional European F3 races in 1969. Retained for 1970, again mainly in French races. Not seen in 1971, but Ligonnet hillclimbed the car in 1972 and is believed to have rolled it down a hillside at some point. Then stored by Ligonnet until 2009 when it was entrusted to Chevron Racing for a full restoration for the Monaco Historics in 2010. Then raced by him in the HSCC Classic Racing Cars series and later in HSCC Historic F3.
  11. Chevron B15 [F3-69-1] (Martin Warren): Works car for Reine Wisell in European F3 in 1969, using Felday Novamotor engines. Won 5 races, including Snetterton and Pau. Sold to Martin Warren (Alton, Hampshire) in November 1969 and raced in British F3 in 1970. Borrowed by David Martell for the final race of the 1970 season. Unknown in 1971.
  12. March 703 [4] (Ed Reeves): New to Ed Reeves for F3 in 1970, and delivered in March 1970 with a Holbay engine and blue bodywork. Raced extensively by Reeves in British F3, and also appeared in some European races. To Roger Hurst (Folkestone, Kent) of Lenham Hurst Racing Organisation for 1971, and fitted with a Rowland twin cam for the new 1600cc F3. Sold to 19-year-old Formula Ford driver Richard Croucher (Kent) in October 1971, and intended to be used in F3 with a Piper engine in 1972. Only entered at a few races in 1972 for Croucher as the Lenham LM1. Converted to Formula Ford 2000 specification by Hurst in 1974 or 1975, and presumably the car entered by Brian Davis in 1975. Later to Tim Campbell 1977/78 but unraced by him. Subsequent history unknown.
  13. Tecno 68/F2 [T00 290] (Max Bonnin): After the failure of the Protos F2 project, Ron Harris Racing bought a pair of Tecnos with the first of these debuting at Crystal Palace 3 Jun 1968 where it was raced by Pedro Rodriguez. Used later in the season by team drivers Richard Attwood, Eric Offenstadt and Jonathan Williams. Taken to the Argentine Temporada at the end that year where it was allocated to Carlos Marincovich. Subsequent history unknown but if it is correct that T00 288 went to Britain for libre racing and that T00 296 went to Daniel Rouveyran for French hillclimbs, then T00 290 must be the "ex-Harris" car that went to Patrick Champin for 1969 and then to Max Bonnin for 1970.
  14. Titan Mk3 [68309] (Mikko Kozarowitzky): To Finnish businessman Antti Aarnio-Wihuri for Leo Kinnunen to race in mainly Scandinavian F3 races in 1968 and 1969. Retained by Aarnio-Wihuri for 1970 and driven by F3 across Europe as part of the Lipton's Racing Division team. Last seen at Karlskoga in August 1970.
  15. Chevron B15 [F3-69-7] (Alessandro Angeleri): Sold via Oliver Speight to Jolly Club in Italy and raced in 1969 by Alessandro Angeleri. Retained for 1970 when run for Angeleri by Tino Brambilla's North Italian Racing Developments. Sold in September 1970 to Etienne Vigoureux. May be the car raced by Giuseppe Piazzi in Italy in 1971.
  16. Brabham BT28 [18] (Alan Harvey): New to Alan Harvey for F3 in 1969, and retained for 1970. To Tony Huggett for 1971 and run in libre racing. Retained for 1972 but rarely seen racing. Advertised by Low Cost Racing in January 1973 when it had a 1970 Lucas engine, possibly the same one Harvey had used in it three years before. Then to Andrew Stevens and raced in Formula 4 with a 1-litre Lucas engine in 1973. Not known in 1974. Raced by Martin Berrow-Johnson (Canterbury, Kent) in F4 in 1975, then on display in Canterbury Mitsubishi dealer's showroom for about ten years until acquired by David Pullen and restored for Lew Wright. Wright is believed to have raced it about 1985/86. Subsequent history unknown.
  17. Chevron B15 [F3-69-8] (Brendan McInerney): New to Brendan McInerney's Race Cars International and raced by McInerney in British F3 in 1969 using Holbay engines. Retained by McInerney for 1970 and raced in European F3 until May when he moved to a Brabham BT28 and then to the team's own Nemo F3 car. The Chevron was used again in November, and then hired to Luiz Pereira Bueno for the Brazilian races in January 1971. Not seen for the main 1971 season but sold to Herb Moger (London) and reappeared at the Boxing Day Brands Hatch meeting. Raced by Moger in British F3 in 1972 as a 'B17'. Moger then moved into Formula 4 for 1973, fitting the B15/17 with a 1-litre Ford Cosworth engine again. He drove it again in F4 in early 1973, and then advertised the car in May 1973. It was also advertised by F4 promoters Low Cost Racing in July 1973. Ray Stockton (Wettenhall, Cheshire) confirmed to researcher James Murray that he bought that car in 1973 from Low Cost Racing as a white B15/17 and used it sporadically for a few years in Formula 4. During his ownership he painted the Chevron bright green. He also appeared a few times in the 1-litre class at Monoposto Formula events in 1975 and 1976. After a bad crash at Oulton Park, he took the car back to Chevron who repaired the chassis for him. Stockton advertised the car in July 1977 and recalls that he sold it after a couple of years of ownership with a blown engine to someone in the Leeds area but he cannot remember the name of the buyer. This would align with a Chevron B15/17 bought from a Mr Harding in Morley, Leeds, in 1978 by Bev Fenby (Rochdale, Lancashire). This must be the Drew Harding (Leeds) who entered a Chevron B15/17 with 1600cc Ford twin cam engine in a BARC (Yorkshire Centre) formule libre race at Croft in May 1978. Fenby has shared the purchase receipt with Murray, which mentions that it was bright green, and as further reinforcement of this provenance, Fenby's car had the same distinctive mirrors as Stockton's car. Fenby raced the Chevron in hillclimbs in 1983 and 1984. He then bought a Holbay 1-litre engine for it but never completed the installation and retained the car unused until his death in March 2025. It was bought from his estate by James Murray (Millom, Cumbria).
  18. March 703 [2] (Tom Walkinshaw): Described in March records as a Works F3 for Tom Walkinshaw, first run in early June 1970 and in Petonyer colours. Raced by Walkinshaw until he crashed it heavily at Brands Hatch at the end of August. Rebuilt on a new frame and presumably the car that Walkinshaw raced at Thruxton in November, his first race since the Thruxton accident. Almost certainly the car sold to Fred Ashplant (Wayne, NJ) and raced in SCCA Formula C in 1971, fitted with a 1000cc Lucas engine. However, at the Runoffs at Road Atlanta in November, Ashplant drove Walter Nelson's car, equipped with a 1100cc BDA built by Vegantune. In 1972, Tom Watson (Richardson, TX) acquired 703/2 and used it in Formula C at a few SCCA events in Southwest Division. He won the division in 1972, against minor opposition, and also qualified for the Runoffs in 1973. In 1974, the car was raced at least once in Nationals by "household engineer" Karen Watson (Richardson, TX), which was sufficient to qualify for the Runoffs. She placed 13th at Road Atlanta, the only woman out of the 440 qualifiers. In March 1975, the car went to David Carter (Tulsa, OK), and he won the Mid-Am Regional title in the car in 1975. He advertised it in December 1977 when it had a SCA engine, but still a Hewland Mk 8 gearbox. It was sold to Gerry Strickfaden (Los Alamos, NM) February 1978, who converted it to C Sports Racing specification with a Datsun engine. Acquired by Ben Treadway (Roswell, GA) from a friend in Atlanta, GA in 1984, and raced briefly as a CSR. In 1990, the car was restored to F3 specification for him by David Irwin, and raced once in SVRA in 1992. Sold in January 2005 to Patric Capon (Bickley, Kent). Sold by Capon in March 2009 to John Counsell (Coleby, Lincolnshire), who raced it in Historic F3 in 2010-2011. Counsell sold it in June 2012 to Simon Armer, who raced it in HF3 from 2013 onwards.
  19. Brabham BT21 [2] (Tony Birchenhough): New to Goodwin Racing and raced by Charles Crichton-Stuart in the January 1967 Argentine Temporada. Then for Natalie Goodwin to race in European F3 from May 1967 onwards. Raced by John Cardwell at a couple of late-season races. For Goodwin in F3 again in 1968 but also raced by Philippe Vidal at one race, and by Cyd Williams after he damaged his Goodwin Racing BT21. For Goodwin in European F3 races again in 1969. Sold to successful saloon car racer Gabriel Konig but not raced, and then to Tony Birchenhough who raced it again in F3 up to October 1970. It was bought from Birchenhough by David Pullen who raced it, still with its 1-litre engine, in the Monoposto race at Thruxton in April 1971. Pullen then fitted a Cosworth Mk13 (Ford) twin cam engine and raced it in the RAC Sprint at Thruxton in August 1971. It was next seen when advertised by Glenn Hyatt's Low Cost Racing in 1972 as a Formula 4 car. Subsequent history unknown.
  20. Chevron B15C (John Ralph): Built for 1970 with a different front end and F2 brakes, the 'B15C' was sold to John Ralph, fitted with a Felday F3 engine, and used in a few F3 races in 1970. It soon disappeared from F3 and was not seen again until 1974, when it was acquired from Derek Bennett by Alex Lowe (Liverpool) and raced in Formula 4 in 1974 and 1975. The car was described as having either Lucas or Cosworth engines. It was badly damaged in an accident at Castle Combe in June 1975, and returned to the factory for repairs. Lowe replaced it with a newer Chevron B20, but the B15C was rebuilt as a rolling chassis and sold. Lowe has no recollection of who bought it. Subsequent history unknown.
  21. March 703 [7] (Leif Hallgren): New to Leif Hallgren for F3 in 1970, and delivered in March 1970 with a Holbay R70 engine and orange bodywork. Raced by Hallgren mainly in Swedish events, but also appeared in Germany, France and Britain. Retained for 1971 and used in the 1000cc class at some F3 races. Retained again for 1972, and raced at least once, again as a 1000cc. To Glenn Hyatt (Farnham, Surrey) for Formula 4 in 1973. To David Pullen for F4 later in 1973. Next seen with Patrick Capon in F4 in 1976. To Mike Murphy and Dave Chorley as a rolling chassis in 1976, and raced by Murphy at Prescott hillclimb and in Monoposto in 1977, 1978 and 1979. Subsequent history unknown.
  22. March 703 [11] (Geoff Bremner): New to Geoff Bremner for F3 in 1970, and delivered in March 1970 with a Lucas engine and green bodywork. Raced extensively by Bremner in British F3 in 1970, with support from Petonyer Air Navigation Ltd and Marriott. Sold to American Dr John Pennington (Beverley Hills, CA), and converted to the new 1600cc F3 by fitting a Conrero Alfa Romeo twin cam engine for Cliff Haworth to race in F3 for 1971. Entered for Haworth by Team Pschitt Soda mainly in French F3 in 1971, but rarely mentioned after the Monaco GP F3 race. Shipped to California after the 1971 season for Pennington to race in SCCA Southern Pacific Division Formula B in 1972, still with its Alfa Romeo engine. By this time the car had F2 wheels, long-range fuel tanks and wider bodywork. Pennington was to drive it in Nationals, and Bruce Campbell in Regionals, but Pennington, who was used to the 10,000 rpm of the Novamotor engine in his Formula C Tecno, soon blew up the Alfa engine. It was then delivered to Don Alexander who was to rebuild or replace the engine and use the car for some Toyo Tire publicity events. To Gary Wadley for 1973, but "totalled" in practice at Willow Springs at the end of the season. The car may have survived, because in 1977, Rick Taylor (Oakland, CA) was reported to have a March 703 in Formula C. Subsequent history unknown.
  23. March 703 [5] (Rüdi Gygax): New to Rudolphe 'Rüdi' Gygax (Wabern, Canton of Bern, Switzerland) for F3 in 1970, and delivered in April 1970 with a Novamotor installation and blue bodywork. Raced by Gygax across Europe during 1970. Retained for 1971 and raced in the 1000cc class of Swiss national events. Subsequent history unknown.
  24. March 703 [16] (Peter Deal): New to Peter Deal for F3 in 1970, and delivered in April 1970 with red bodywork to utilise Deal's own Lucas engine. Raced by Deal in F3 and libre in 1970, but in 1971 he replaced it with a much older Brabham BT21 with twin cam engine. The 703 may have been sold to the US for SCCA Formula C in 1971.
  25. Brabham BT28 [16-2] (Tony Trimmer): New to Race Cars International for Bev Bond (Fareham, Hampshire) to race in British F3 in 1969 with Holbay engines. Taken to Karlskoga for the F3 in August but crashed. Once it was repaired, the drive was taken over by Formula Ford star Tony Trimmer. Trimmer kept the drive for 1970 but crashed at Snetterton and the car required a new chassis. Raced by Trimmer for the rest of 1970 but also by RCI boss Brendan McInerney at least once. To Brian McGuire for 1971, converted to the 1600cc formula and raced in British F3. Crashed and "extensively damaged" during practice at Snetterton in early October and not seen again.
  26. Chevron B17 [17.70.03] (Barrie Maskell): New to Barrie Maskell (Leeds, West Yorkshire) and raced in British and selected European F3 in 1970 as part of the Northern England Racing Organisation, using Holbay engines. Won at Oulton Park in September against a strong national field. Used again in the Temporada in early 1971, after which Maskell got a drive in a works-supported B18. Maskell's B17 was advertised by Doug Linton at the Chevron factory in September 1971, saying that it had been rebuilt on a new chassis. Subsequent history unknown.
  27. March 703 [6] (Eddie Jacobsson): New to Eddie Jacobsson for F3 in 1970, and delivered with blue bodywork to utilise Jacobsson's own Novamotor engine. Raced by Jacobsson in many races across Europe during 1970. Retained for 1971 and used in a number of 1000cc and 1600cc class events. By the end of the season it had a very standard 1600cc Ford twin cam engine. Subsequent history unknown.
  28. Lotus 59A [F3-3] (Bev Bond): New for Gold Leaf Team Lotus for driver Mo Nunn in Formula 3 in 1969. Autosport noted that it was "completely new" at Silverstone on 17 May 1969 and Motoring News called it "c/n 3". Used by Nunn all season. Then rebuilt over the winter and run by GLTL for Bev Bond in early 1970. Described as a 59A by April and fitted with F2-style Lotus 69 bodywork by May. Crashed by Bond at Brands Hatch in July but rebuilt for Claude Bourgoignie to race at Zolder in September. This was then the blue 59A run by Lotus Components for Bond at Thruxon later that month, and for Carlos Pace and Ian Ashley over the next two weekends. Last seen when raced by Ashley at Brands Hatch in November 1970.
  29. Brabham BT28 [4] (Conny Andersson): New for Ulf Svensson (Sweden) and raced in European F3 in 1969. Retained for 1970 and entered for Conny Andersson in European F3. Retained early 1971 but then unknown until noted by F1 Register as the car of C-G. Linnaeus in 1976. Subsequent history unknown but a car with this number in historic racing from 1999 onwards.
  30. Brabham BT21B [BT21-30(ii)] (Roger Enever): This BT21 was built to F2 specification with a Cosworth FVA engine and BT23 suspension for Alan McKechnie Racing and raced in 1967 by Chris Lambert. It was later damaged in a trailer accident but evidently repaired and is believed to be the car that Don O'Sullivan (Western Australia) bought for 1968, fitted with one of his 2.5-litre Climax engines, and used in libre events at Caversham. If so, the car was sold back to the UK at the end of that year and would then be the "ex-Lambert" car that was used as the basis of a "new" BT21B for Dr Joseph Ehrlich's team which was being built up for F3 in April 1969. Presumably then the car raced for the team by Roger Keele in September 1969. Raced again in 1971 in Formula Atlantic by Johnny Dimsdale (London) with an RES twin cam and advertised by him at the end of that season as a BT21C. Presumably the same car that Bob King of Bob King Motorcycles (Bedford) entered as a BT21C in Formula Atlantic races in 1972 and which he later advertised with a RES Ford twin cam in October 1972, mentioning that it was red. This would then be the red BT21C with RES engine entered by Nick Overall (East Horsley, Surrey) in a Jaybrand libre race at Silverstone in March 1973. Subsequent history unknown.
  31. Brabham BT28 [25] (Allan McCully): New to Allan McCully in very late 1969 for British and occasional European F3 races through the first half of 1970, using Holbay engines. Then to Alan Jones and raced by him from September 1970 onwards, including the Torneio Brasileiro in early 1971. Jones was part of the Australian Intl Racing Organisation in F3 in 1971 with this car, upgraded to 1600cc specification and using Vegantune engines. To Paul Butler (Chessington, Surrey) for British F3 in 1972, again using Vegantune twin cams and entered by Barwell Automotive. Retained for libre racing in 1973 when it was upgraded to BT35 specification and Butler started sharing the car with Evan Clements (Whyteleafe, Surrey). Modified to Formula Atlantic specification and raced in libre and some Atlantic races by Butler and Clements in 1974 and 1975. According to a later HVIF, it went to Tony Allinson in 1975, then to Paul Hobbs in 1977, then Mike Harrison in 1984, then to Hugo Studer in 1986 and finally Sepp Mayer from 1995 to 2007. In 2007 it was owned by Klaus Bergs.
  32. Brabham BT21 [16] (Terry Harmer): New to Richard Burton, and raced in British F3 in 1967. To John Campbell for British F3 in 1968. To Wayne Mitchell for British F3 in early 1969, entered by Paul Watson Racing Organisation. To Motor Racing Enterprises later in 1969, and raced for MRE by James Hunt. To Terry Harmer for F3 in 1970, mainly at Brands Hatch. History in 1971 and 1972 unclear, but the car was used in British hillclimbs in the 1970s. Next seen with Richard Farley (Cheam, Surrey) in 1973, then with John Farley (Cheam, Surrey) in 1975 and 1976. From John Farley to Richard Thompson in 1978, and raced by him in hillclimbs in 1979 and 1980. Last advertised in October 1983, when it had a 1100c MAE-based engine, then sold to Roy Lane, but unused, and advertised by him in November 1985. According to researcher Ian Hebblethwaite, it was sold to Roger Lewis (Terrick, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire) who shared it in hillclimbs with Caroline Ayres. Subsequent history unknown.
  33. March 703 [1] (Ian Ashley): Described in March records as a Works F3 for Ian Ashley, first run in early June 1970 and in red and white colours. Raced by Ashley in British F3 for Petonyer Air Navigation Racing until he left the team at the end of August, and then probably the Petonyer car raced by Colin Vandervell and Cyd Williams at the end of the season. The car was wrecked twice, needing new frames, and it is unclear what happened to it after the second rebuild. As 703/2 was in the US by April 1971, and 703/11 had been racing in France since March, 703/1 must be the "ex-Petonyer" 703 advertised by Jim Gleave's MRE in April and May 1971.
  34. March 703 [17] (Harald Ertl): New to Eifelland for Harald Ertl in F3 in 1970, and delivered in April 1970. Raced by Ertl up to July, after which he left Eifelland after a disagreement. March records indicate that this car was crashed and rebuilt on a new frame, and seem to say that the original frame from this car was used to rebuild 703/1 after one of its accidents. Subsequent history unknown. In 1987, a car with this chassis number was advertised by John Harper, in 1990 from Barrow, and in November 1995 by Cliff Worthington (Preston, Lancashire). In 2002, a car with this chassis number was owned by John Counsell (Coleby, Lincolnshire). This is believed to be the car raced by Grant Saunders in HSCC Classic Racing Cars and Historic Formula 3 Race from 2010 to 2015.
  35. Chevron B15 [F3-69-9] (Steve Matchett): New to Howden Ganley and raced in European F3 in 1969 using Lucas engines. Hired to Reine Wisell at one race in August after Ganley's entry was turned down. To Steve Matchett for 1970 and used in British F3. Matchett took the car back to the US and it was advertised by Jack Grimm (Orange, CA) in October 1971. Presumably the B15 raced by Doug Turner (Newport Beach, CA) in Formula C from 1972 to 1974, latterly as a B17. Advertised by Turner as a B17 in October 1974. Towards the end of 1975, the car reappeared in Southern Californian FC, raced by Chris Price (Garden Grove, CA). He continued to race it at Riverside in 1976 and 1977. Subsequent history unknown.
  36. March 703 [13] (David Morgan): New to Dave Morgan for F3 in 1970, and delivered in March 1970 with white bodywork to utilise Morgan's own Felday engine. Raced by Morgan in British F3, with occasional foreign forays. Then unknown until it was bought from Sid Marler by Roger Lea for Monoposto in 1975. It was sold by Lea to fellow Monoposto racer Pete Watling, who had not raced it by early 1978. Advertised by Lodge Corner Agencies in early 1978. Subsequent history unknown.
  37. Brabham BT28 [2] (Jim Edwards): Delivered March 1969 to Clarke Mordaunt racing team for Mike Beuttler in UK F3 in 1969. To Jim Edwards for UK F3 in 1970. To Mike Stow for Formula Atlantic in 1971 when it was said to have been updated to BT29/35 specification. Sold to Dick Barker at the beginning of 1972 when it was said to have been 'brought up to FB BT29 specification last year'. However, Motoring News identified Barker's car as chassis number BT28-20 twice early in 1972 instead of BT28-2. BT28-20 was a different ex-Stow car with a clear history up to this point, implying MN's reporter made a mistake. Barker's car was heavily damaged at Crystal Palace at the end of May 1972 and was not seen again. Barker advertised a 'BT29/35' in April 1973 but the identity of that car is unknown.
  38. Palliser WD31 [1] (Roger Keele): New for Roger Keele (Daventry, Northamptonshire) to race in British F3 in 1970, entered by Paul Watson Racing Organisation, and using Broadspeed and later Ehrlich engines. It was on display in Formula Atlantic specification at a Formula Atlantic demonstration day in December 1970, but not seen again. Subsequent history unknown.
  39. Chevron B17 [17.70.04] (Bert Hawthorne): New to New Zealander Bert Hawthorne and raced in British F3 using Holbay engines. Hawthorne wrecked the car in late May, and after trying a couple of other cars, settled on the new Tui F3 car. The Chevron was repaired at the factory and sold via Fred Opert to Ron Cohn (Modena, NY) to be used in SCCA Formula C in 1971. It was later sold to Bill Anspach (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) and is presumably the car he raced in 1973, 1974 and 1975, winning the FC class at the 1974 Run-Offs. To Sandy Brandt (Ft Lauderdale, FL/Pompona Beach, FL) for SEDiv FC in 1976 and 1977. To Ric Capone (Riviera Beach, FL) for FC in 1978, qualifying for the Runoffs, and advertised by him in October 1978. Subsequent history unknown. In 2017, a car with this claimed history was acquired from Ed Lamantia at Huffaker Engineering in the US by a customer of Damon Milnes in the UK.
  40. Brabham BT28 [3] (Jean-Pierre Cassegrain): New for Jean-Pierre Cassegrain (Orléans, France) for Formula 3 in 1969, fitted with a Holbay R69 engine. Retained for 1970 and raced until Cassegrain's accident at the start of the F3 race at Aeroport Dijon-Longvic in June. The car caught fire and Cassegrain's injuries were such that he later had two fingers amputated. It was this accident that would be the trigger for Yves Morizot to launch Stand 21 Racewear and its range of multi-layer flame-retardant suits. The BT28 would repaired and Cassegrain returned to competition late in 1970. For 1971, the car was sold to Madagascan driver Max Bonnin, an expert in nursing a third season out of a racing car. Retained for 1972 as well, after which Bonnin acquired a March 723. Subsequent history unknown.
  41. Tecno 68/F3 [T00 210] (Etienne Vigoureux): Initially a 1967 F3 car raced by Clay Regazzoni as part of the factory team. Identified by Tecno registrar Taiju Kobayashi as the car acquired by Meubles Arnold for Jean-Pierre Jaussaud to drive in 1968. Rebuilt with a lengthened chassis and DAF Variomatic transmission as used by the Chequered Flag team in 1966 and 1967. After a single race, the car was converted to Hewland transmission and Jaussaud won the next two races. Retained for Jean-Pierre Jarier to drive in 1969.
  42. Brabham BT21B [14] (Chris Montague): New to Malcolm Guthrie but only raced once, at Croft in mid-May, before being sold to Frank Lythgoe for Peter Gethin to race at Monaco. Then to Natalie Goodwin's team for George Lewis to race in F3 in some late-season F3 races. Retained by Goodwin for 1969 for Cyd Williams to race in F3 and libre, but rolled at Pau and not satisfactorily repaired. Raced by Nat Goodwin at two araes later that season. Sold to Chris Montague for 1970 but rarely seen. This would be the "ex-Goodwin/Williams" car bought by Alex Postan from Montague in 1972 and raced in F4 in 1973. Sold to Hyatt in 1974 or later in a trade for the ex-Tony Brise GRD. Subsequent history unknown.
  43. Brabham BT28 [23] (Keith Wright): New to Sports Motors (Manchester), and raced by Tim Schenken in afew late-169 races. To Keith Wright for 1970, and raced extensively in British F3 and libre. Retained for 1971, still with its 1000cc Holbay R69 engine, and used in British libre. In mid-season, it was fitted with a 1600cc Vegantune twin cam engine and again used in libre until the end of the season. Reportedly to Andrew Cheeks in Trinidad for 1972. Subsequent history unknown.
  44. Brabham BT28 [15] (Jörgen Jonsson): New to Jörgen Jonsson and raced in mainly in Scandinavian F3 in 1969 and 1970, also popping over to the UK for a few races. Retained for the 1600cc Formula 3 in 1971, probably still racing with its 1-litre engine, until Johnsson's BT35 arrived. To Clas Sigurdsson for 1973; later to Dick Nilsson for 1975. Subsequent history unknown.
  45. Brabham BT28 [7] (Gustaf Dieden): New to Gustaf Dieden and raced in Scandinavian F3 in 1969 with Novamotor engines. Retained for 1970 until replaced with a new 1970 BT28 in time for Karlskoga in August. Later history still to be resolved.
  46. Brabham BT28 [17] (John Kendall): To Frank Williams Racing Cars and entered for John Kendall in mostly British F3 in 1969. Retained for 1970 until August when Kendall moved the car to Paul Watson Racing Organisation where it was driven by Richard Scott. To Peter Hull for 1971 who advertised it as a BT28 with BT30 chassis. To Bob Shellard for hillclimbs in 1972, then to Phil Kidsley & Paul Squires who ran it in sprint and hillclimbs until at least 1989, using a Cosworth MAE at first but later with a supercharged 1100cc Ford BDA. Said to be with Tommy Reid in 2006. In 2016, Mark Pangborn was racing a BT28 that was said to be ex-Kendall and ex-Squires/Kidsley.
