Notes on the cars:

  1. Cooper T53 [F2-5-60] (Bruce McLaren): Cooper Cars for Bruce McLaren in F1 in 1960. Used by McLaren at the New Zealand Internationals January 1961. Subsequent history unknown.
  2. Cooper T53 [F2-8-60] (Jack Brabham): Cooper Cars for Jack Brabham in F1 in 1960. Used by Brabham at the New Zealand and Australian Internationals in January and February 1961. It was then returned to the UK, was next seen at the Silverstone International Trophy in May 1961, where Ron Flockhart drove it as a Brabham Racing Organisation entry, but crashed in the rain. This car was not seen again.
  3. Cooper Mk IV 'T51' [F2-1-59] (Phil Hill): Delivered to BRP with a Borgward engine according to the Cooper Register. Ivor Bueb's 1959 F2 car and the car in which he was killed at Clermont-Ferrand 26 Jul 1959. This car was clearly rebuilt at some point and it may be the 2.5-litre car used at the Gold Cup on 29 Sep although this could also be the new Yeoman Credit-owned F2-24-59. Also possibly the car used by Moss at the Watkins Glen libre three weeks later. Used as a Borgward car in South Africa in Jan 1960 and then fitted with a 2.5-litre for the Yeoman Credit/BRP F1 team in 1960, Graham Vercoe identifies this as the car that went to NZ in 1961 but David McKinney believes that car to have been F2-26-59. The Formula 1 Register have identified Maurice Trintignant's 1961 Cooper-Maserati as an ex-Yeoman Credit T51 and have tentatively assigned it this number.
  4. Cooper Mk IV 'T51' [F2-27-59?] (Roy Salvadori): Doug Nye's "Cooper Cars" identified this car as one of the 1959 works cars. Its history is not known after 1960 but it may be Mennato Boffa's car in Italy.
  5. Cooper Mk IV 'T51' [F2-6-60?] (Wolfgang von Trips): Delivered to Ian Burgess according to the Cooper Register.
  6. Scarab ['1'] (Chuck Daigh): Like Lance Reventlow's car, Chuck Daigh's Scarab did not have a chassis number and is called '1' here purely for convenience. The Formula 1 Register call this car '01' and their order has been adopted. After its awful 1960 F1 season, this car returned to Britain for IC racing and was crashed at Silverstone and destroyed. Parts from this car are said to have been later used to construct a car for Ali Lugo. (Source: TNF ref 1852679) A third Scarab F1 car was built but never completed by RAI; it is now in the Donington Museum.
  7. Cooper Mk IV 'T51' [F2-14-60] (Pete Lovely): Delivered to F Armbruster (USA) according to the Cooper Register.
  8. Cooper Mk IV 'T51' [F2-26-59] (Olivier Gendebien): Delivered to Yeoman Credit Ltd in Oct 1959 according to the Cooper Register. Raced in F1 by the YC/BRP team in 1960 and then to New Zealand in early 1961 where it was leased to Feo Stanton for Denny Hulme to drive. Sold less engine to Johnny Mansell after the Internationals and fitted with a 2-litre FPF. To Bill Thomasen for 1962. Via other NZ owners to Ken Smith and then sold to US owner in 1988.
  9. Cooper Mk IV 'T51' [F2-2-59] (Henry Taylor): Delivered to BRP with a Borgward engine according to the Cooper Register. Raced in F2 by George Wicken and Chris Bristow in 1959. Transferred to the Yeoman Credit/BRP F1 team in 1960 and raced by Bristow, Henry Taylor and Bruce Halford. Subsequent history unknown.
  10. Cooper Mk IV 'T51' [F2-12-59?] (Maurice Trintignant): Delivered to Signor Dei (BP Trading) less engine according to the Cooper Register.
  11. Cooper Mk IV 'T51' [F2-13-59?] (Ian Burgess): Delivered to Signor Dei (BP Trading) less engine according to the Cooper Register.
  12. Cooper Mk IV 'T51' ["F2-5-57" (F2-7-59?)] (Ron Flockhart): "Works Car No. 3" according to the Cooper Register. Believed to be Masten Gregory's regular car during 1959. According to Doug Nye's Cooper Cars, this was Bruce McLaren's race-winning car at both Sebring Dec 1959 and at Buenos Aires Feb 1960, Subsequent history unknown but may be either the works team's spare car during 1960 (raced by Flockhart and Daigh) and then by Flockhart and Salvadori in New Zealand; the ex-works car sold to Akins for Salvadori to drive in 1960 or the car reputedly sold to Fred Tuck for 1960.
  13. Cooper Mk IV 'T51' [F2-24-59] (Tony Brooks): Delivered to Yeoman Credit Ltd in Oct 1959 according to the Cooper Register. This is believed to have been Harry Schell's car in early 1960, up to his crash in practice for the International Trophy in May. It was evidently rebuilt, as BRP have five cars in use over the weeknd of 6 June so this may be the car that Jack Sears runs in F2 trim at Crystal Palace. It is then raced in F1 by Gendebien and Brooks later in the season (but again appears as an F2 in the middle of this for Sears at Snetterton - it must be possible that Sears' car was a sixth BRP T51, built up or acquired somehow). It seems likely that this is the car driven by Bonnier at the Watkins Glen libre race and in the 1961 New Zealand Internationals. Subsequent history unknown.

These 1966 to 1985 results were initially compiled by Allen Brown, but these were in the very basic form required to track individual car histories. Since then further details, such as laps completed, qualifying times and so on, have been added from Rob Ryder's extensive database.
